PROVING DATUM

Every datum must be in good position and condition before any observation is taken.
From this field work we use the datum with 2 boundary marks and proving by solar
observation

The difference between certified plan and solar observation is:

1-2 258° 40’ 22” 42.110 (from CP)

1-2 258° 41’ 20” 42.112 (from solar observation)

00° 00’ 58” 0.002m

PROCEDURE OF SOLAR OBSERVATION

1. Solar observation can be carried out in the early morning or late evening.
However, the altitude must be at least 10°.
2. There must be at least 2 sets of solar observations with every set consists of
two average to the centre of the sun at face left and face right. The third set
need to be observed if the difference of grid bearing within set 1 and 2
exceed 10”.
3. Every observed sets need to be referred to the same reference origin.
4. Line distance between observed station and reference origin need to be not
less than 30 meters.
5. Observed time taken need to be record to the nearest 1” while the horizontal
and vertical reading is recorded to the nearest 1”.
6. Solar observation needs to be record when the horizontal stadia were in the
centre of the sun and the vertical stadia for the sun’s curve line.
7. The level bubble information need to be recorded for every observation
made.
8. All the calculations are made by TSM automatically.
9. Below the data value already calculated by TSM software:

PROCEDURE IN TSM

1. Click the icon

2. Click at the station that we choose to make solar observation example 2. Choose
line for solar 2-1. Click capture.
3. Circle left target to RO and then click OK.
4. Circle left, sun on the left of the focus line, click OK.
5. Circle left, sun on the right of the focus line, click OK.
6. Circle right, sun on the right of the focus line, click OK.
7. Circle right, sun on the left of the focus line, click OK.
8. Circle right target to RO and click OK.
9. Then save to proceed another progress.
10. Repeat all steps to get another set solar observation to compare set 1.
11. For line of solar observation will coloured with RED
