Abel (Ay buhl) - means “breath” or “vapor.” Adam
and Eve’s second son. Abel was a shepherd, and
he offered to God some of the first born of his
flock. His brother Cain offered some of his crops to
the Lord. The Lord was pleased with Abel’s offer-
ing but not Cain’s. Cain became angry. His anger
led him to murder Abel. Genesis 4:1-16; Hebrews
11:4
