    • Ed has a BA and MA degree in Economics from CSULB
    • Ed served as an official for the U.S. Customs Service for
    over 25 years.

    Ed managed and balanced multi-million dollar government
    budgets, and saved our nation millions of dollars by
    instituting cost-cutting reforms.
    As a member of the Long Beach Ethics Review
    Task Force, Ed fought against the City Council's • Ed has proven problem solving experience working with both
    discretionary "slush" funds! seaports and airports, domestically and internationally.

    STRENGTHENING PUBLIC SAFETY:


    Ed will add police and firefighters by cutting waste and setting proper
    spending priorities!
    FACT: The incumbent approved an 11.3% budget increase right before the
    city went into a $102 million deficit, and then cut library and other spending.
    IMPROVING NEIGHBORHOOD INFRASTRUCTURE:
    Ed will establish an infrastructure commission that will take a proactive
    approach to fixing potholes and sidewalks!
    FACT: The 5th District is actually in the bottom 1/3 of completed sidewalk repairs.
    PROTECTING TAXPAYERS:
    Ed will eliminate the deficit without raising taxes, and make permanent
    many budget cutting solutions for the future of our city!
    FACT: The incumbent believes we need a sales tax increase on the ballot in
    November, and previously proposed almost $40 million in tax increases!
