zum Gedenktag des Völkermordes an den Armeniern

Für die Armenier in der ganzen Welt ist der Ostersonntag, 24. April 2011, gleichzeitig
auch der Gedenktag des Völkermordes. Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) und die
Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen (KEK) haben mit einem gemeinsamen Appell die
christlichen Kirchen der Welt aufgerufen, mit Gebet und Gedenkwort der Opfer des
Völkermordes zu gedenken. Hier der Text in einer inoffiziellen Übersetzung:

Das Osterfest, das glorreiche Fest der Auferstehung unseres Herrn Jesus Christus, fällt
in diesem Jahr auf 24. April, welches mit dem armenischen Genozid-Gedenktag
zusammenfällt. Zum ersten Mal seit 1915 fällt im armenischen Kirchenkalender der 24.
April auf einen Ostersonntag Es ist wirklich ein wertvolles Zufall, wie die Existenz der
armenischen Nation und des Volkes selbst ein besonderes Zeichen der Kraft der
Auferstehung in der Welt des Todes ist. Wenn die Christen in aller Welt in diesem Jahr
Ostern am selben Tag feiern, ist es eine historische Chance für uns alle, der
unschuldigen Opfer des Völkermordes an den Armeniern zu gedenken.

Da die Armenisch-Apostolische Kirche und das armenische Volk den 96. Jahrestag des
Völkermordes gedenken, appellieren der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen und die
Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen an alle Mitgliedskirchen, sich am Ostersonntag 2011 an
die 1,5 Millionen Opfer des Völkermordes an den Armeniern während ihrer Gebete und
Botschaften zu erinnern.

Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen hat die Notwendigkeit einer öffentlichen
Anerkennung des armenischen Genozids hervorgehoben. Im Jahr 1984 veröffentlichte
der ÖRK ein Dokument namens "Armenien: Fortsetzung der Tragödie", welches zum
Bekanntwerden der Geschichte und des Schicksals des armenischen Volkes beigetragen
hat. Die Kommission der Kirchen für Internationale Angelegenheiten hat die Frage des
Völkermordes an den Armeniern bei der UN-Kommission für Menschenrechte mit
Bezug auf deren "überarbeiteten und aktualisierten Bericht über die Frage der
Verhütung und Bestrafung des Völkermordverbrechens" angezeigt. Wie beim
Statement der Sitzung des ÖRK-Zentralausschusses vom 2005 festgehalten, glaubt der
ÖRK, „dass es aus christlicher Perspektive der Weg zur Gerechtigkeit und zur
Versöhnung die Anerkennung des Verbrechens als unvermeidbare Voraussetzung für die
Heilung der Erinnerungen und die Möglichkeit der Vergebung vorsieht. Vergeben
bedeutet nicht vergessen, sondern ein Rückblick, mit der Absicht, die Gerechtigkeit und
die Achtung der Menschenrechte sowie die Kontakte zwischen der Täter und der Opfer
wiederherzustellen."
Am 11. April 2005 haben das Präsidium der Konferenz Europäischer Kirchen und der
Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen mit einer öffentlichen Erklärung alle Mitgliedskirchen
eingeladen, "24. April zum Gedenktag des Völkermordes an den Armeniern zu machen
und weitere geeignete Schritte im Zusammenhang mit der Erinnerung des 90.
Gedenktages des Völkermordes an den Armeniern zu treffen." Ferner forderte das
Präsidium der KEK die türkische Regierung auf, „einen Prozess der Aussöhnung zwischen
der türkischen und der armenischen Völker zu starten, in dem die Anerkennung der
Schuld und die Verkündigung der Wahrheit integrale Bestandteile sein müssen."

In diesem Sinne rufen wir alle unseren Schwestern und Brüder im Glauben an Jesus
Christus auf, am diesjährigen Ostersonntag zusammen mit dem armenischen Volk mit
besonderen Fürbitten für Armenier und andere Opfer des Völkermordes zu beten.

Lassen Sie uns an das erinnern, was Christus gesagt hat:

„Ich bin die Auferstehung und das Leben.
Wer an mich glaubt, wird leben, auch wenn er stirbt, und jeder,
der lebt und an mich glaubt, wird auf ewig nicht sterben.“ (Johannes 11, 25)

Զատիկը` մեր Տէր Հիսուս Քրիստոսի Հրաշափառ Յարութեան օրը, այս տարի
ապրիլի 24-ին է, որը համընկել է Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան յիշատակման օրուայ
հետ: 1915 թ. սկսած առաջին անգամն է, որ ապրիլի 24-ը Հայոց Եկեղեցու
տօնացույցով համընկել է Զատկի կիրակիին: Յիրաւի, սա իմաստալից
համընկնում է, քանզի հենց հայ ազգի եւ ժողովրդի գոյութիւնը Յարութեան ուժի
հատուկ խորհրդանիշ է մահուան աշխարհում: Երբ ամբողջ աշխարհի
քրիստոնեաներն այս տարի միեւնոյն օրն են տօնախմբում Զատիկը, դա մեզ
բոլորիս համար պատմական հնարաւորութիւն պէտք է լինի` Հայոց
Ցեղասպանութեան անմեղ զոհերի յիշատակին յարգանքի տուրք մատուցելու
համար:

Քանի որ Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին եւ Հայ ժողովուրդը վկայակոչում են

Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան 96-րդ տարելիցը, Եկեղեցիների Համաշխարհային
Խորհուրդը եւ Եւրոպական Եկեղեցիների Կոնֆերանսը կոչ են անում բոլոր
անդամ Եկեղեցիներին` իրենց աղօթքներում եւ 2011 թ. Զատկական
ուղերձներում յիշատակելու Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան 1.5 միլիոն զոհերին:

Եկեղեցիների Համաշխարհային Խորհուրդը բարձրացրել է Հայոց

Ցեղասպանութեան միջազգային ճանաչման անհրաժեշտութեան հարցը: 1984 թ.
ԵՀԽ-ը հրապարակել է «Հայաստան` Շարունակուող ողբերգութիւն» անունը կրող
փաստաթուղթը, որը նպաստեց հայ ժողովրդի պատմութեան եւ վերապրած
ողբերգութեան ճանաչմանը: Եկեղեցիների միջազգային հարցերով զբաղուող
Յանձնախումբը Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան հարցը բարձրացրել է ՄԱԿ-ի Մարդու
իրաւունքների Յանձնաժողովում` հենուելով վերջինիս «Ցեղասպանութիւն
ոճրագործութեան կանխման եւ հատուցման հարցի վերանայուած եւ
թարմացուած զեկոյցի» վրայ: Ինչպես նշուել է 2005թ. ԵՀԽ-ի Կենտրոնական
Կոմիտէի հանդիպման ընթացքում, ԵՀԽ-ն հաւատացած է, որ «քրիստոնէական
տեսանկիւնից դէպի արդարութիւն եւ համերաշխութիւն տանող ճանապարհը
պահանջում է այն յանցանքի ճանաչումը, որն իրագործուել է, որպէս
յիշողութիւնների դարմանման եւ ներման հնարաւորութեան համար անհերքելի
պայման: Ներել նշանակում է ոչ թէ մոռանալ, այլ յետադարձ հայացք նետել`
արդարութիւնը, մարդկային իրաւունքների հանդէպ յարգանքը եւ ոճրագործների
ու զոհերի միջեւ յարաբերութիւնները վերականգնելու նպատակով»:

2005 թ. ապրիլի 15-ին Եւրոպական Եկեղեցիների նախագահութիւնը եւ

Եկեղեցիների Համաշխարհային Խորհուրդը հանդէս եկան համատեղ
հրապարակային յայտարարութեամբ` հրաւիրելով բոլոր անդամ Եկեղեցիներին
«Ապրիլի 24-ը Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան յիշատակման օր դարձնելու եւ մտածելու
Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան 90-րդ տարելիցի յիշատակմանը վերաբերող հետագայ
պատշաճ քայլեր ձեռնարկելու ուղղութեամբ»: ԵԵԿ-ի նախագահութիւնը
հետագայում Թուրքիայի կառավարութեանը կոչ արեց «հայ եւ թուրք ազգերի
միջեւ հաշտեցման գործընթաց սկսելու, որտեղ մեղքի գիտակցումն ու
ճշմարտութեան հռչակումը անբաժանելի տարրեր պիտի լինեն»:

Այս տարի Զատկի Կիրակիի հանդէպ մեր մօտեցման ոգով` ի Յիսուս

Քրիստոս մեր բոլոր հաւատակից եղբայրներին եւ քոյրերին կոչ ենք անում
միանալ հայ ժողովրդին` հայերի եւ ցեղասպանութեան այլ զոհերի համար աղօթք
բարձրացնելով:

Եկէք յիշենք, թե ինչ ասաց Քրիստոս.

«Ես իսկ եմ Յարութիւն եւ կեանք:
Ով հաւատում է ինձ, թէպէտ եւ մեռնի, կ’ապրի.
եւ ով կենդանի է ու ինձ հաւատում է, յաւիտեան չի մեռնի»: (Յովհ. 11, 25)

Christians called to remember Armenian genocide

Easter, the glorious Day of Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, falls this year on April
24 which coincides with Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. For the first time since
1915 April 24 falls on Easter Sunday in the Armenian Church calendar. It is truly a
meaningful coincidence, as the existence of the Armenian nation and people itself is a
special sign of the power of the resurrection in a world of death. When Christians all
over the world celebrate Easter on the same date this year, it will be an historic
opportunity for all of us to pay tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the
Armenian Genocide.

As the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian people observe the 96th year of
the Armenian Genocide, the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Conference of
Churches in Europe (CEC) appeal to all member churches to commemorate the 1.5
million victims of the Armenian Genocide during their prayers and messages on Easter
day 2011.

The World Council of Churches has addressed the need for public recognition of the
Armenian Genocide. In 1984 the WCC published a document called “Armenia: the
Continuing Tragedy” which helped in making known the history and plight of the
Armenian people. The Commission of the Churches on International Affairs raised the
issue of the Armenian Genocide in the UN Commission on Human Rights with reference
to the latter’s “Revised and Updated Report on the Question of the Prevention and
Punishment of the Crime of Genocide”. As was stated at the 2005 WCC Central
Committee meeting, the WCC believes that, “from the Christian perspective, the path
towards justice and reconciliation requires the recognition of the crime committed as a
sine qua non condition for the healing of memories and the possibility of forgiveness.
Forgiveness does not mean forgetting but to look back with the intention to restore
justice, the respect for human rights and relationships between perpetrators and
victims.”

In a public statement of 11 April 2005, the Presidium of the Conference of European

Churches joined the World Council of Churches in inviting all its member churches “to
make April 24 a Day of Memory of the Armenian Genocide and to consider further
appropriate actions related to the 90 years Commemoration of the Armenian
Genocide”. The CEC Presidium further urged “the Turkish government to initiate a
process of reconciliation between the Turkish and the Armenian peoples, in which the
recognition of guilt and the proclamation of the truth need to be integral elements.”

In this spirit, as we approach Easter Sunday this year, we call upon all brothers and
sisters of faith in Jesus Christ to join with the Armenian people in offering prayers for
Armenians and other victims of genocide.

Let us be reminded of what Christ has said,

“I am the Resurrection and I am the Life.
Whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies;
and whoever lives and believes in me will never die” (John 11:25).
