ALARACT 385/2010 COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR THE UNITED STATES (SEC)

RET SERVICE (USSS) SOLICITATION (FOUO), DTG 291628Z DEC 10. The US
Secret Service (USSS) has requested communications support from DOD.
DOD has approved the USSS request. Since this is an additional duty,
service members who provide this support will return to their home
unit following periodic USSS tasking. This is a unique and rewarding
duty. Commanders will disseminate this message to lowest levels and
provide volunteer Soldier's names and required information to the POCs
in the message ASAP, but not later than 28 Jan 11. See the message
for more information.

NARR/(U). THIS MESSAGE APPLIES TO CONUS ONLY UNLESS DATE ELIGIBLE FOR
RETURN FROM OVERSEAS (DEROS) IS PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 2011.//
1. (FOUO) SITUATION. THE US (SEC)RET SERVICE (USSS) HAS REQUESTED
COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR USSS AGENTS WHO PROTECT THE PRESIDENT,
FORMER PRESIDENTS, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, VISITING HEADS OF FOREIGN
GOVERNMENTS, AND OTHER DIGNITARIES. DOD HAS APPROVED THE USSS REQUEST.
REF C TASKED THE ARMY TO PROVIDE 30 SOLDIERS, AS REQUIRED, TO SUPPORT
THIS EFFORT. SINCE THIS IS AN ADDITIONAL DUTY, MEMBERS WILL RETURN TO
THEIR HOME UNIT FOLLOWING PERIODIC USSS TASKING. THIS IS A UNIQUE AND
REWARDING DUTY.
2. (FOUO) VOLUNTEER MISSION. COMMANDERS, DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO
LOWEST LEVELS. PROVIDE VOLUNTEER SOLDIER'S NAMES AND REQUIRED
INFORMATION TO THE POCS IN PARA. 4.B. ASAP, BUT NOT LATER THAN 28
JANUARY 2011.
3. (FOUO) EXECUTION.
3.A. THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA APPLY:
3.A.(1). MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN BY BIRTH OR NATURALIZATION.
3.A.(2). NO RECORD OF UCMJ CONVICTIONS OR CIVIL OFFENSES OTHER THAN
MINOR TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS.
3.A.(3). ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL. SECOND TERM SERGEANTS OR
ABOVE.
3.A.(4). MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTIES REQUESTED ARE: 94D20/30,
94E20/30, 94F20/30, 94H20/30, 94L20/30, 94R20/30, 94W40, 94Y20/30,
25B20/30/40, 25C20/30, 25E30/40, 25F20/30, 25L20/30, 25N20/30,
25P20/30/40, 25Q20/30, 25S20/30/40, 25U20/30/40, AND 25W40.
3.A.(5). (SEC)RET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED.
3.A.(6). PERSONNEL MUST BE AVAILABLE FROM MAY 2011 THROUGH JUNE 2013.
SELECTED INDIVIDUALS WILL BE DEFERRED FROM RE-ASSIGNMENTS UNTIL 2013;
HOWEVER, THIS DEFERRAL WILL END IF THE SELECTED SOLDIER, FOR WHATEVER
REASON, CANNOT CONTINUE TO FUNCTION IN THIS CAPACITY.
3.A.(7). MUST PORTRAY SUPERIOR MILITARY BEARING AND POSSESS IMPECCABLE
INTEGRITY.
3.A.(8). MUST HAVE A VALID CIVILIAN DRIVER'S LICENSE.
3.A.(9). MUST NOT BE CONSTRAINED FROM DEMANDING DUTY REQUIREMENTS DUE
TO PHYSICAL PROFILE LIMITATIONS. TRANSPORTABLE EQUIPMENT TRIP PACKAGE
CONTAINS SEVEN SUITCASES WEIGHING AN AVERAGE OF EIGHTY (80) POUNDS
EACH.
3.A.(10). MUST HAVE A UNIT GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD.
3.A.(11). MUST NOT BE SELECTED FOR AN OVERSEAS TOUR IF CHOSEN FOR THIS
DUTY. SOLDIERS NOMINATED FOR THIS DUTY SHOULD BE VOLUNTEERS.
3.B. VOLUNTEERS MEETING THE ABOVE CRITERIA ARE SOLICITED. INTERESTED
SOLDIERS SHOULD BE ADVISED THAT SELECTION FOR THIS MOST IMPORTANT AND
HIGHLY VISIBLE DUTY INVOLVES FREQUENT PERIODS OF TDY THROUGHOUT CONUS.
DUTY IS PERFORMED IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER, AND HOURS ARE GENERALLY
LONG AND IRREGULAR.
3.C. COMMANDERS DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO LOWEST LEVELS.
4. (FOUO) ADMIN AND LOG.
4.A. SELECTED SOLDIERS WILL REMAIN WITH THEIR UNITS OF ASSIGNMENT AND
MAY BE DISPATCHED ON SHORT NOTICE (SAME DAY OR NEXT DAY) TO SITE OF
OPERATIONAL DUTY. SPECIAL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THOSE
SELECTED; GRADUATES WILL RECEIVE A CIVILIAN CLOTHING ALLOWANCE. ALL
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH DUTIES, INCLUDING TRAVEL IN SUPPORT OF THE USSS
MISSION, WILL BE REIMBURSED BY THE USSS.
4.B. TO APPLY, SOLDIERS SHOULD SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN
MEMORANDUM FORMAT, ENDORSED BY UNIT COMMANDER, TO THEIR BRANCH
