    Why we need orthographic projections

    -To describe any object.

    There are two types of orthographic projection

    a) FIRST ANGLE ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION

    b) THIRD ANGLE ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION

    Why only 1st & 3rd angle projections.Why not 2nd angle and 4th angle
    projections?

    Generally 1st angle projection is used in India and 3rd


    angle projection is used in European countries. In 1st
    and 3rd angle projections there is no overlapping of
    principal planes while drawing side and top views. But in
    2nd and 4th angle projections the principal planes are
    overlapped while drawing top and side views. It results
    confusion in drawing. For this reason 1st and 3rd angle
    projections are used commonly.
