For this AO I will study the career progression in


the army the two main things that I am going to look at is
progression procedures and promotion opportunities

Career progression in the army. These are some of the ranks in


the army from the lowest to the highest

The lowest
• Officer cadet - No Badge

• Second lieutenant

• Lieutenant

• Captain

• Major

• Lieutenant colonel

• Colonel

• Brigadier
• Brigadier general

• Major general

• Lieutenant general

• General

• Field Marshal

The highest

Field Marshal is the highest military rank of the British Army.


The Royal Marines do not have an equivalent rank to Field
Marshal, although the position of Captain General Royal
Marines has the same insignia as an Army Field Marshal. A
field marshal is a hard job to get it takes about 3-4 years to reach
the rank of a General.
