Deforestation-

The clearing of tree’s from a fertile area.

Ex. The clearing of tree’s for farming and in the process destroying thousands of birds homes.

Exotic Species-

Organism introduced to a new environment where it does not naturally occur.

Ex. Bringing a scorpion to the arctic and it altering the habitat.

Overexploitation-

Using an organism for a resource but to the point where the organism is close to extinction or
endangerment.

Ex. Killing elephants to take their tusks for ivory and they are now near extinction.

Disease-

A harmful pesticide that kills or harms any organism.

Ex. Rabies passing through different animals: A dog with rabies biting a rabbit who now has rabies.

Pollution-

Wastes from humans that makes its way to water ways and animal habitats.

Ex. A whale that chokes because it swallowed a plastic bag that looked like a jelly fish.

Fur Trade-

Worldwide industry dealing in the acquisition and sale of animal fur.

Ex. Killing a chinchilla to make a coat, and then trading it with another nation or nations.
Farmer/Rancher Shootings-

Ranchers may shoot wild animals on spot when they feel that they attack domestic sheep and thus
destroy ranchers’ livelihoods.

Ex. A jaguar attacks a farmers livestock so the farmer shoots the animal with no concern.
