FINANCE USING EXCEL

Course code: BAS 13 Credit Units: 2

Course Objective:

The objective of this course is to make students understand the basic tools in Microsoft
Excel that are useful in making financial decisions.

Learning Outcomes –

On completion of this course you will be able to


• To identify the various components of excel screen
• To Navigate the Excel worksheet (entering, correcting, and moving data within
the worksheet) and create graphics
• To be able to excel-modelling and use add-in function
• To perform basic financial calculations using excel
• To draw upon basic financial decisions using excel

Entering, copying, editing and formatting values in cells
Inserting mathematical formula in cells
Copying formulas with respect to rows and columns
Freezing rows and columns

• Depreciation

Budgeting using excel

Investment analysis using Excel


• Calculating NPV
• Calculating IRR
• Excel modeling for investment analysis
• Using solver of LPP
