    On Saturday June 18, 2011, as part of the International Film Festival, Malaysians will be able to listen to one of the most renown Buddhist nun and singer, Ani Chöying Drolma perform. This is Ani Chöying Drolma’s first concert in Malaysia. She will perform a total of nine songs accompanied by different musical instruments. Ani Chöying Dolma hails from Kathmandu, Nepal. She is part of a fairly large group of musicians in the Tibetan tradition now active outside Tibet. Ani Chöying Drolma has recorded 10 albums. Her music combines Tibetan melodies with traditional and contemporary instruments, like singing bowls and synthesizers.

    Ani Choying believes that nuns have great aspirations and potential to make the world a better place, if only given equal opportunities. Arya Tara School, in Nepal, opened in 2000, with the aim to equip nuns to help and to serve their communities in a professional and humanitarian capacity. With a fully developed and realized potential, she believes that her nuns will be able to not only help themselves, but also to help others. Thus, Arya Tara School aims to help young nuns bring their compassion into fruition, actively, effectively, skillfully and meaningfully. To finance her school, Anila generates income through musical endeavors. In 1997, she began performing and recording Cho for audiences around the world, connecting Westerners to Tibetan culture and music. Ani has gained wide popularity in Nepal as well, after she released her first Nepali CD Moments of Bliss in 2004 for which she was bestowed with laurels for her fantastic soothing voice. She has since received numerous awards, both within Nepal and in Europe for her songs. In her performance for WIFF 2011, she will sing a total of nine songs and mantras, including Om Mani Padme Hung. Her CDs will also be on sale during WIFF.
