Drill/Practice: Finishing Layout:

Theme/Aim: 1v1s

Time: 10 Minutes

Core Description: Blue dribbles through cones and passes to their team mate at the last dribble cone. The player then takes a positive touch and dribbles around the red cone. At the same time the red performs fast feet exercise (perhaps with speed ladder) and then sprints to close down the attacker. If the defender wins the ball they can attack the smaller goal. Rotation: Blue 1 moves to red cone, Blue 2 moves to end of defending line, red moves to end of attacking line. Support Description: Blue passes to team mate who takes a positive touch, takes the ball around the second red cone and can attack the goal. Red can press as soon as blue receives pass. Rotation: As above. Extension Description: Blue dribbles through cones then passes to team mate at the same time as the red performs fast feet exercise then can press the ball. Now the strike at goal has to beat the goalkeeper. Rotation: As above. Extension Layout: Support Layout: Coaching Points: Keep head up Small touches when dribbling in tight area Larger touches to drive into space Inside of the foot to pass Cushion a firm pass to control Step into a weaker pass to control Strike with the inside of the foot to shoot with precision Strike with the laces to shoot with power Sprint when pressing to deny space Press high to keep attacker away from goal
