The callous and brutal pro-choice mentality is certainly not unique to Canada, the United States and Europe, and it is not necessary for abortion to be legalized in order for it to rear its ugly, selfish and uncaring head. Jordan is a nation where abortion is legal only to save the mothers life and for provable and serious health problems. But even if abortion had been legal for any reason, it would not have changed the circumstances of this horrible case in the least, because some men think only of themselves and not of their victims. In order to protect the identities of the surviving victims, the perpetrator in this case, a Jordanian carpenter from Amman, remained anonymous during court proceedings. He began raping his daughter when she was fifteen years old. She became pregnant by him. Police said that "The suspect brought a carpet cutter, cut his daughter's stomach with it, opened her womb and took the female fetus and threw it in the garbage." The mans wife knew about the rapes all along, but kept quiet because her husband had threatened to kill both her and their daughter if she told anyone about it. Momen Hadadi, Chief Medical Examiner at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, said that it was the first time he had come across such "a horrific story" in his 30 years as a pathologist. On May 24, 2010, the man was charged with rape and murder. 1
