ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The National Diploma in Engineering Sciences (Marine Engineering) course of the Institute of Engineering Technology, Sri Lanka, extends for period of four years, inclusive of two half year training period. This report was prepared on completion of my General Industrial Training (GIT) period in the Colombo Dockyard Limited. The training was commenced on 05th of January 2009 and ended on 31st of December 2009. First of all I wish to express my sincere thanks to the IET for arrange this training program and supervise us during the period of Apprenticeship, With that my sincere thanks to our Head of Department Mr. Rodney De Silva for the same. I take this opportunity to thank the Lectures and staff members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Division of Maritime & other all members of academic staff. My special and sincere thank to training Engineer Mr. A.S Abeygunasekara and other staff members of C.D.L training centre and all the Engineers, Foramen, Supervisors and employees of the C.D.L for the attention paid and the co-operation extended towards me during the period of my training.
