Book Report in English II

Title: The Emperor and the Kite I. Author: Jane Yolen II. Setting: a) Time- Once b) Place- ancient China III. Characters: a) Djeow Seow- daughter of the emperor thati s very thin

b) Emperor- father of Djeow Seow c) Djeow Seows siblings- four brothers and three sisters d) Monk- man who already had a poem about the kite of Djeow Seow e) Evil Men-they kidnapped the emperor IV. Plot A. Exposition Once in ancient China, there lived a princess named Djeow Seow who was very tiny. Because of this, she was not thought very much of. Every morning, she always plays her kite that even a monk had already a poem about her kite. B. Rising Action/ Conflict One day, there were evil men who crept up the emperor when he was alone. But unfortunately, Djeow Seow who was sitting at the corner saw what happened. C. Climax The evil men took the emperor to a tower in the middle of a wide, treeless plain with a single window and an iron bar across the center. They also sealed the door with bricks and mortar. After this, they rode back to the castle and declared that the emperor was dead. Djeow Seow went to where the tower is and built a hut of twigs and branches. She always sail her kite and tied a basket of food for his father. One day, the monk passes again and recited the poem with different lines. The princess realized what the monk is trying to say. She made a rope from vines, grass, and strands of her hair and attached it to her kite. Her father used this to escape from the tower. D. Denoument/ Result When the emperor already touched the ground, he immediately hugged the princess. Together they went home and threw the evil men into prison.

E. Conclusion To the end of his days, the emperor ruled with Princess Djeow Seow close by. And because of his experience, the emperor never neglected a person again. At the end, Princess Djeow Seow ruled the empire as gentle as wind and, in her loyalty as unyielding. V. Moral Never neglect a person whether great or small because who know that this person will be the person who will save you and will b there if you are alone. Have self confidence. VI.
