News Release for Miguel Nuez

I am very happy to share with you that this year I joined the Scripps Health Foundation Gift Planning Advisory Board-- a private, non-profit health system based in San Diego which was founded in 1924 by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps. Scripps Health treats half a million patients annually through the dedication of 2,500 affiliated physicians and 13,000 employees among its five acute-care hospital campuses, home health care services, and 22 outpatient centers and clinics. Scripps is also at the forefront of clinical research, genomic medicine, wireless health care and graduate medical education. Scripps has also been recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of the Top 10 health systems in the nation for quality care. Private philanthropy has played a vital role in the growth of this organization throughout its history. The Gift Planning Advisory Board consists of professional advisors, including Real Estate professionals like myself, who volunteer their time and expertise to help Scripps meet its goals for the planned gifts and other forms of private philanthropy that will allow it to continue to provide quality medical care for generations to come. In particular, real property can be an asset used to fund a variety of types of planned gift vehicles such as gifts through a will or living trust, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. For instance, one can donate real property to Scripps Health in exchange for secure income for life, and also receive valuable tax benefits. Given my background in Real Estate, I feel very satisfied with being able to contribute my knowledge and expertise toward helping the Office of Gift Planning to reach its goals. I am very excited to be able to contribute to such a prestigious organization through my participation on the Gift Planning Advisory Board, and I look forward to updating you on my experiences as I do so.
