Microsoft Sharepoint Server is an integrated suite of server capabilities that can help improve organizational effectiveness by providing comprehensive content management and enterprise search, accelerating shared business processes, and facilitating information-sharing across boundaries for better business insight. Additionally, this collaboration and content management server provides IT professionals and developers with the platform and tools they need for server administration, application extensibility, and interoperability. - Microsoft Sharepoint is a web application platform developed by Microsoft that is designed as a centralized replacement for multiple web applications. Contact List) A library is a list where each item in the list refers to a particular file stored in Sharepoint (ex. Document Library) - Pages A page is typically a Wiki-page that enables free-form editing with the ribbon toolbar

Widgets and Web Parts Small programs designed for one task, for example, a calendar or a wiki. MySite A single page portal that contains the users personal sites, links, etc. My Site consists of both a public and private view. The private view is intended as a personal workplace for the individual end user. The public view, on the other hand, acts like a business card that can be accessed by other portal users. New in Version 2010 Social Computing Mysite, Blogs, Wikis, etc.. Asset Library - SharePoint Server 2010 includes a new asset library specially designed for managing and sharing digital assets such as audio, video, and other rich media files. Fluent Ribbon Interface Interface designed to match the ribbon interface of MS Office 2010. Access Services you can now use Access services in Sharepoint to edit, update and create linked Microsoft Access 2010 databases that can be viewed and manipulated by using an internet browser, Access or a linked HTML page.
