• As we can observe that the existing organisation chart shows that the managing director
who himself is the project manager has staffed a deputy project manager who collects all
the information from the architect and structural engineer and communicates it the
managing director (PM).
• However the deputy project manager has virtually no authority and serves only as an
assistant to the managing director in regards of engineering division only. He is not a part of
other divisions at all. The other divisions are all under the control of the managing director
who will forward it to the chairman.
• The actual reason behind this type of organisation chart is that since STRUCTWEL is a private
firm ,its senior officials all belong to the same family ie the chairman(MR.RAMESH
N.RAIKAR),the managing director(MR CHETAN R.RAIKAR) and the deputy PM(MR.KAUSTABH
R.RAIKAR).
• Since Mr. Kaustabh Raikar being inexperienced, he is given lesser responsibility and probably
he is being trained for the managing director’s post when the chairman retires and the
managing director takes his position. Hence this type of organisation chart exists.
• Otherwise the proposed chart is ideal where all the authority is under the project manager
and he addresses to the chairman only in special cases.
