Abbreviated Operating Instructions Elcometer 345 Coating Thickness Gauge 4 keys

You need: A metal plate with no coating (e.g. steel for F, aluminium for N); A plastic calibration foil thicker than the coating. Look at the label on the back of the 345. If it says MkII then keys [0][+][-] will not respond unless pressed for more than 4 seconds.

CALIBRATION 1. Press [e] to switch on. 2. Place probe onto metal plate to take a reading then lift away. 3. Press [0] (MkII: hold for 4 seconds), display will show zero. 4. Place foil onto metal plate, take a reading then lift away. 5. Press [+] or [-] (MkII: hold for 4 seconds) to adjust display to foil value. 6. Press [e] to put the settings into memory.

Now measure the bare plate and the foil again to confirm the readings. Expect some variation on typical surfaces.

To choose Automatic or Manual press [e] [-] [0]; To choose F or N press [e] [-] [-]. To choose METRIC or ENGLISH press [e] [+]. To switch the display BACKLIGHT press [e] [e].

STATISTICS FUNCTIONS of 345 4 KEYS MkII 1. View Statistics: press [+] then [+] to see each one. 2. Set the list of statistics: Press [-] then [-] until wanted statistic appears: press [+] to add it to the list; press [-] to remove it from the list; press [e] to store the list.

ERROR CODES To cancel any error code press [e]. E1 E2 E3 E4 E5 E6 Incorrect calibration Error in the average value No readings taken to calibrate from Memory full (storage) Too many readings in memory Value too big

3. Clear statistics: press [e][-][e], the display will show [CLS] press [+] to clear or press [e] to escape. 4. Print or Transfer readings: press [e][-][+]. If PrF or Prn appear, press [+][-] again.
