How to bypass Ford Passive Anti theft system Solution 1- for 1999 car If you had a new key

cut, or replaced a module do the passlock key relearn procedure: 1- turn the key in the on position, dont start the car, the theft light should come on then go off, wait about ten minutes the theft light will come on.then turn the key to the off position but dont pull it out. 2-repeat step 1, 2 more times. it takes about a half an hour. After the 3rd time the light should blink a couple of times then the car will start. if it does not start, try the procedure again or take it to a mechanic to have the passlock system properly diagnosed. Solution 2- for 1998 car Normally, if it doesn't start, this is the procedure for the PCM to "re-learn" it's function. Try to start the car by turning the key to the Start/Run Position. Note that the vehicle won't start and that the security light is on. Turn the key back to the 'ON/Accessory' Position. (DO NOT turn key to the 'off' position.) Allow the vehicle to sit with the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position for no less than 11 minutes. Turn key to off position and allow the vehicle to remain in the 'OFF' position for no less than 30 seconds. Repeat this 3 times. On 4th try, the car should start. Since this can take a while, I would turn off all electrical loads, such as disconnecting headlights, and turning off the climate control. You can wait longer than the specified time, but you should not wait less time. 11 or 12 minutes is OK, but less than 11 won't work. It can take around half an hour to complete the process. If this doesn't solve your problem, you may have a PCM issue. Solution 3- for 1996 car Attempt to start the car, let it stall, but DO NOT turn the key off! Leave it in RUN. Wait 10 minutes or until the Theft Sys light glows steady instead of blinking. Do not turn the key off, but start it immediately. This should reset your Passlock system. Now keep in mind if there is a fault in the system this will not workand the theft light will stay blinking. Solution 4- for 1996 car If it is your passlock system you will have a SECURITY light on the dash. If you need to bypass it, and this is done all the time with guys who install remote starters, look up a site called www.the12volt.com. They have a database with the bypass wiring for most cars. Bypass is achieved by cutting in a resistor to fake out the system, basically duplicating the resistor value in that black think on the key. You can measure from one side of your key to the other with a digital meter to get the resistor value. I bypassed the security system on a 1989 Chevy Camaro, their system just enabled a relay in the drivers side kick panel, bypass the relay and away you go. I seem to recall that one of the problems with your system was dirty contacts in the ignition switch causes the system not to read the key resistor. As I said, this is very common with the remote started guys, a procedure should be easy to find on the web. Solution 5- for 1999 car A few ways I know of to reset the light, though keep in mind if there is an issue the light will come back on shortly after being reset. 1 Pop the hood of your vehicle and disconnect the positive and negative power leads from the battery. Turn the vehicle's lights on and leave the battery disconnected for at least 15 minutes. This will allow the vehicle's capacitor to fully drain to spur a total reset.

2 Connect an automotive diagnostic scanner to your car's computer. Use the scanner to reset the "Check Engine" light as well as diagnose any other issues with your car. (If you have an Autozone near you they may be able to do this for free) 3 Request to have the "Check Engine" light reset next time you're getting an oil change. This is normally a free service when you are receiving an oil change Solution 6- ford car With cougars and thunderbirds 89-96 you can hold brake down for 30sec when car is off to reset or battery terminal unplugged if neither work it's your o2 sensor very common with all fords. Solution 7- ford car Here's what you do, disconnect your battery, wait 30 minutes, attach it, then run your codes. Might be your o2 sensors Solution 8- other car With over 100 reasons for the light to come on you can't guess why. Get the code scanned to better understand why the light is on. There may be multiple malfunctions. Autozone will scan the code for free. Solution 9- ford car The proper way is to clear the diagnostic code with a scan tool. If you do not have one the code can be cleared and the light reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Most Autozones have a scanning tool and should be willing to reset the engine light for you for nothing. They may even find something else wrong which you may have overlooked. Solution 10- ford car Typically an alarm system would be installed on the driver's side interior of the vehicle. This system would have been tapped into the ignition switch wiring running down from the key. If you remove the dash panel(s) under the steering column you should be able to locate where the harness was added that goes to the alarm. Disconnect each wire that was tapped in and insulate the factory wiring. You will also see that at least one of the wires was cut; this is the vehicle starter wire that runs from the key to the starter. This wire needs to be restored, I always recommend soldering all connections but crimp connectors should also work. Make sure that you remove all connections to the alarm and that any wires that may be exposed are insulated and mounted in a way that they will not interfere with any moving parts and do not run the risk of shorting out. Remember to take your time and follow each connection running from the brain of the system, leaving one wire connected that you are unsure of the function could cause problems in the future so be sure to remove every wire. Solution 11- ford car According to my sheets there is a green/red wire at the anti-theft module (above the accelerator pedal) that requires a ground pulse to disarm the factory alarm.
