Choose one of the following three options as a follow-up to our work together on the

Mathematical Task Framework (MTF) and the Ron Castleman Case.

• Take the Ron Castleman task and do it with students. What do you predict will
happen and what happened? Were there any ways that students engaged with
the task that you didn’t expect?

• Identify issues that Ron Castleman grappled with as he moved from one lesson
to the next. Then ask yourself if you can identify a specific example of this type
in your practice.

• Choose a task from the materials you plan to teach in the next month in which
representations have the potential to influence the way students engage with the
mathematics. Reflect on how you and your students used representations during
the lesson.
