Fourth Grade Math Skills require you to know your multiplication and division facts.

By now, you should know your addition and subtraction facts (if not, be sure you are practicing them). Your daily homework assignments are listed below! Be sure to do your best! You are on your way to making a Multiplication Table Touchdown! You will be given a factor to study each week! Day 1: Write the facts 3x each...using the fact of the week. Day 2: Paste a 100s chart into your book, skip count by the factor to find all of the multiples. Then, list the multiples in a column. Now, write about the patterns youve found. Day 3: First, draw all of the possible arrays of the factor of the week. Now, list all of the fact families for the factor of the week. Day 4: Write 2 story problems related to the factor of the week. First, write a multiplication story problem. Solve the problem using pictures, numbers or words. Explain how you solved it. Now, write a division story problem, solve it, and explain it!

Sample Journal Entry for the week:

Week of: October 1-5, 2007 Day 1: Monday, October 1, 2007 0 x 12 = 0 1 x 12 = 12 2 x 12 = 24 3 x 12 = 36 4 x 12 = 48 5 x 12 = 60 6 x 12 = 72 7 x 12 = 84 8 x 12 = 96 9 x 12 = 108 10 x 12 = 120 11 x 12 = 132 12 x 12 = 144 Day 2 : Tuesday, October 2, 2007 12 24 36 48 60 72 84 96 I notice a pattern when skip counting by 12. Every multiple is even. The ones place of each multiple is skip counting by 2 in order beginning with 2. The number in the tens place is adding ten. On the 100s chart, to skip count by 12, you go down 1 row and over 2 columns. 0 x 12 = 0 1 x 12 = 12 2 x 12 = 24 3 x 12 = 36 4 x 12 = 48 5 x 12 = 60 6 x 12 = 72 7 x 12 = 84 8 x 12 = 96 9 x 12 = 108 10 x 12 = 120 11 x 12 = 132 12 x 12 = 144 0 x 12 = 0 1 x 12 = 12 2 x 12 = 24 3 x 12 = 36 4 x 12 = 48 5 x 12 = 60 6 x 12 = 72 7 x 12 = 84 8 x 12 = 96 9 x 12 = 108 10 x 12 = 120 11 x 12 = 132 12 x 12 = 144 Fact of the Week: 12

Day 3: Wednesday, October 3, 2007

Fact Families of 12 1 x 12 = 12 12 x 1 = 12 12 1 = 12 12 12 = 1 2 x 6 = 12 6 x 2 = 12 12 2 = 6 12 6 = 2 3 x 4 = 12 4 x 3 = 12 12 3 = 4 12 4 = 3

Day 4 : Thursday, October 4, 2007 Multiplication Story Problem: Miss OBrien has 4 students in her homework club. She gives each student 3 pencils. How many pencils did she give to the homework club?

4 students x 3 pencils = 12 pencils.

Division Story Problem Julie had 36 jelly beans. She shared them among 12 friends. How many jelly beans did each friend get?

36 12 = ?

I know that 12 x 2 = 24 and 12 x 1 = 12. 12 x 3 = 36 This means that 36 12 = 3. I used clusters to help me solve this problem. Julie gave each friend 3 jelly beans.
