Steve Jobs Speech at Stanford University to graduating students Truth be told I never graduated from college; this is the

closest I ever got to graduation. Today Ill like to tell you 3 stories from my life; the first one is about connecting the dots. I dropped out of college after the first 6 months but stayed around for another 18 months as a drop-in student before I really quit.Reasons? Prov 14:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting get understanding. If it holds that knowledge is the what (what, being content); and understanding the why and how; and wisdom being the when and where. Then according to Proverbs 14:7, the what is not as important as when and where. In fact knowing why and how makes the when and where clearer. When and where is the principal thing; therefore get it (right); and as you do, get the reasons why and how. According to Adam Clarkes commentary; wisdom sees; understanding feels. Not very clear thoughts though. I keep coming back to a greek word/definition of wisdom: phronesis. Which means mental action or activity that is intellectual or moral insight. This is only applicable when situations present themselves i.e. as responses. In other words wisdom comes to play when there is a circumstance or situation that demands a response/reaction (ecc 7:12). The question therefore is not what you know, or what it means to you, the most important thing- the principal thing is when you apply what you know, where it should be applied. It is being at the right place at the right time. This can only happen by the Holy Spirits guidance who sometimes give this to us by common sense. Two individuals are presented with schooling opportunities: both quit. one goes off and becomes a multi-millionaire; the other ends up in jail having stolen his next meal for the day. Thats the difference between Steve Jobs and the average American who read his story and followed his steps. Wisdom is when and where; what time and what place.
