Please see instructions below as discussed.

These are written for AutoCAD 2009, you will need to select a slightly different registry key (R1x.x) in section 5 for other versions. Please give me a call if you have any questions.

A number of CAD issues that are specific to a certain user of a pc can be resolved by returning the software back to default settings. The following instructions show you how to do this in both XP and Vista. Please note, users will lose any customised menus/toolbars etc so you should always use this method as a last resort. Always rename folders as per these instructions, DO NOT delete folders, so data can be retrieved if necessary.

1. Vista: In Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Users\User.Name\Application Data\Autodesk and right click on the product to be reset.
XP: In Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Documents and settings\User.Name\Application Data\Autodesk\ and right click on the product to be reset.

2. Select Rename and add the word old to the folder name.

3. Go to Start>Run (if run command not shown, type run in start search box) 4. Type regedit 5. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.2 (This will allow you to reset any AutoCAD 2009 based products. For LT or previous versions see below). 6. Highlight each entry as below, the panel on the right will show what product it is for, in this case AutoCAD 2009.

7. Select the relevant folder starting with ACAD-7xxx:xxx, right click and select Rename. 8. Add the word old to the folder name.

9. Close Registry Editor and Windows Explorer 10. Start AutoCAD from the shortcut LT or previous versions 5. For LT2009 navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT\R14 and select the folder named ACADLT7xxx:xxx. 5. For AutoCAD 2008 products navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1
