The Love of God

C F/C C G/B F C
The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell;
C G/B am F G C
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.
F C G/B F C
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His son to win;
F G C G C
His erring child He reconciled, and pardoned from his sin.
F C G F C
O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
F C G C
It shall forevermore endure the saints and angels’ song.

C F/C C G/B F C
The hoary time shall pass away, and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
C G/B am F G C
When men, who here refuse to pray, on rocks and hills and mountains call,
F C G/B F C
God’s love so sure, shall still endure, all measureless and strong;
F G C G C
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race the saints and angels’ song.
F C G F C
O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
F C G C
It shall forevermore endure the saints and angels’ song.

C F/C C G/B F C
Could we the ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made.
C G/B am F G C
Were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade,
F C G/B F C
To write the love of God above would drain the o cean dry.
F G C G C
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, tho’ stretched from sky to sky.
F C G F C
O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
F C G C
It shall forevermore endure the saints and angels’ song.
