Training and Development in Hotel Taj


1) Who are the trainees? Every employee walking in with the appointment letter is first a trainee. when the time period of he being a trainee over, he gets permanently placed in the organization.

Usually the employees other than management heads get


selected from the Taj Hotel Management Institute in Aurangabad.

Following are the departments where training is implemented:


Food and Beverages Kitchen House keeping Front Office Finance Accounts H.R.D Sales

2) Methods or programs conducted for training


The trainees are trained on the job. The introduction to the work is explained by the training department of human recourse management. In case of introduction of new technology, like a new software, the employees are given training by lecture method and even with the

help of audio-visual presentations.

3) Who trains the new employees?


In Case of the departments others than Kitchen, the Trainees are trained by the Training & Development department which comes

under Human Recourses Department.


In case of Kitchen, the kitchen employees and chefs are trained personally by the Chief Chef

Taj Management Training Program (TMTP) Hotel Operations Management Trainee (HOMT) Program

Taj Management Training Program (TMTP)


This intensive Management Training Program prepares young people as thorough professionals with the Taj. Operations: The TMTP - Operations is the premier hospitality managementtraining program in the country.

It focuses on careers in the two guest contact departments- Food


& Beverage Service and Front Office. This is an 18-month intensive Management Training Program.

Taj Management Training Program (TMTP)


First 12 months, the Management Trainee focuses on practical (On-the-Job training) and theoretical exposure to the

fundamentals in Hoteliering.
Next 6 months, the management trainee receives inputs that combine elements of Management including Human Management Resources, Development, Architectural Appreciation,

Materials Management and Accommodation. The Management Trainees are also expected to complete live projects during their training period.

Taj Management Training Program (TMTP)


Food Production The TMTP- Food Production program focuses on culinary skills and the managerial ability to run kitchen operations. A 24-month intensive management training program which

prepares you for Profit Centre Management in the Taj.

First 12 months, the Management Trainee focuses on practical


(On-the-Job training) and theoretical exposure to the fundamentals in Hoteliering.

Taj Management Training Program (TMTP)


The next 12 months are focused on specializing in two different cuisines, one each in a 6-month period. In order to sustain our position of strength in Food and Beverage, participants undergo specialization in cuisines of the world.

Hotel Operations Management Trainee (HOMT) Program


This 12-month program has been designed to train the trainees to the level of an Asst. Manager of an outlet or equivalent in any of

our operational departments.


The on-the-job training is built in as very important component of entire program.
