One seldom sees children on the news reporting the Iraq war zone, but they are t here. They are getting bombed, burned, shot at, maimed physically and mentally/emotion ally, they are hungry, thirsty, cold, frightened, even orphaned, and they do not go to school. When I was invited to lead workshops on writing for gifted 5ht graders in Yonker s, N.Y. last year, I began with this intro: My memoir A CHILDHOOD IN WWII GERMANY is dedicated to the children in Iraq. The theme is: WAR IS UGLY. I hope when you children grow up, you will remember this memoir and not make war . Avant-garde poet Ingeborg has a 33-page poetry book titled LIFE. She published i n the Aquarian Arts Journal, The Arts Journal Trillium, The Arts Journal Labyrin th and the Arts Journal Chronogram. As a feature writer she has published many articles: political; environmental an d interviews in various newspapers. She has a finished 62.000 word manuscript of a Fantasy/SF novel SIRIA, The OFFSPRING OF BIG STAR and a memoir titled A CHILD HOOD IN WWII GERMANY. In June 2005 at the Pearls Hawthorne School in Yonkers, N.Y. she taught poetry t o gifted 5th graders. Ingeborg has been featured throughout the Hudson Valley, N ew York, New York City, and New Jersey. My memoir titled A CHILDHOOD IN WWII GERMANY; about 400 pages in first draft is outlined here. When Munich is firebombed the infant Ingeborg is sent to the country where she g rows up hungry and in the cellar because the walls of the house are riddled with bullet holes. She survives the invasion and occupation of a foreign army. The Sequel THE BLOND MAIDEN SLEEPS WITH THE ENEMY deals with Ingeborg who at 17 sleeps with the enemy, is impregnated, cast out by her community and emigrates t o the US where she faces discrimination, isolation, sexual exploitation, economi c hardship and finally mental illness.
