Professional culture is one of our strongest categories.
O Uver tbe last years we bave bad a small sbared
leadersbip structure making decisions for
LASCS. Tbis past year we bave broadened tbe
leadersbip structure to involve a bigber
percentage of our staff in ongoing roles
including: Lead Teacbers, Reform Model
Advocates, student government advisors and
tbe principal. Tbese elected positions will
collectively decide on actions LASCS will take to
make our scbool a strong NTN-PBL scbool. All
significant policy decisions will continue to be
made in scbool-wide staff meetings.
O Altbougb budget cuts bave bit every scbool, tbe
LASCS staff bas agreed to meet every Tuesday
for an bour and a balf to discuss PBL
development, implementation, and feedback.
O teacbers recently received tbe NTN exemplary
teacber certification and teacbers are
completing tbeir train tbe trainer work. Plans to
run internal trainings are currently being made.
Tbe sbared decision-making structure and tbe
commitment to ongoing staff development is evidence
of tbe LASCS staff's commitment to maintaining a
professional culture to support eacb otbers success.

Uur Financial Sustainability is at risk.
O Uften times tecbnology gets one lump sum
contribution and is relatively ignored in tbe
coming years. Uur scbool bas not put fortb a
strong long-term plan to support our scbools
commitment to - computer ratio in every
classroom.
O Tbree successive years of staff reductions bave
reduced our capacity to offer team-taugbt,
interdisciplinary classes.
O Civen our financial insecurity, additional money
is needed to support our scbool's success.

Since financial sustainability is tbe category tbat needs
tbe most improvement, we at LASCS are working
tirelessly to find tbe funds we need to keep our scbool
strong.
O An advisory board was created to support
fundraising for our tecbnology needs. Tbe board
consists of a NTN representative, LAUSD
Instructional Tecbnology Division
representative, LASCS reform model
advocates, an LASCS student representative, a
'Rigbt to Succeed' representative and tbe LASCS
principal.

O We bave also become a partner scbool for an
Irvine Crant initiative called Linked Learning.
Tbis grant provides our scbool witb grant money
to support professional development for
pro|ect-based learning. Tbe Linked Learning
initiative integrates seamlessly witb our
commitment to tbe NTN model and provides an
additional funding source to support our
financial needs.
O Lastly, witb our Local District attempts to make
all scbools K- in LD a pro|ect-based learning
scbool, our scbool, as a training site, bas become
top priority. By training otber scbools we can
bring in extra funds to support our curriculum
and tecbnology needs.
