    Homeostasis is the mechanism that maintains the internal environment of the body through hormones and a feedback system. It works through sensors that detect changes, a control center that processes the information, and effectors that respond to stabilize the internal environment and maintain optimal conditions for the body's cells, tissues, and organs. The effectors are activated by either negative or positive feedback in response to stimuli as part of the homeostatic control system that supports life.
