USE OF POROUS POLYETHYLENE (PPE) IMPLANTS IN FACIAL AUGMENTATION

In present scenario esthetic surgery has gained tremendous importance. Alloplastic materials are used mostly as augmentation material since recent past as they reduce the morbidity associated with the donor site. Pertaining to biocompatibility, PPE has hallmarked itself to be much more superior to other alloplastic materials in use. PPE materials are non-antigenic, non-allergic, non -carcinogenic and non-resorbable implants that are truely versatile for augmentation purposes. In addition to this it is porous with pore size ranging from 125 to 150 microns which allows the vascular ingrowth ,that enhances the stability and biocompatibility.
WE REPORT ON TWO CASES OF FACAI L DEFORMITIES FOR WHICH PPE IMPLANTS WERE USED SUCCESSFULLY.
