Reflection and Call to Worship In todays Gospel Jesus speaks of persecution and martyrdom for the sake of the Gospel. As people largely spared such trials, let us use our freedom to praise and worship our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with grateful hearts. Collect Almighty and eternal God, you have kindled the flame of love in the hearts of the saints: grant to us the same faith and power of love, that, as we rejoice in their triumphs, we may be sustained by their example and fellowship; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
First Reading Micah 3: 5-12 Micah condemns false prophets who prophesy for their own enrichment, and declares Gods
judgement on Jerusalem for the corruption of her rulers.
Second Reading - 1 Thessalonians 2: 9-13 Paul supports his claim to speak Gods word to the Thessalonians on the basis
of his selfless conduct while he was with them in Thessalonica. Gospel - Matthew 24: 1-14 Jesus exhorts his followers not to be led astray but to endure as his disciples, no matter what perils they might meet.
A verse from the psalm appointed for today, Psalm 43 O God, send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.
