WELD REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Weld Defects detected visually or by other Examinations or by hydrostatic or pneumatic tests shall be removed by mechanical means or by appropriate thermal gouging processes taking care of material handled. 2. Confirmation of removal of weld defects shall made either by visual examination or by appropriate NDE methods like PT / MT / RT / UT. 3. After the removal of weld defects, the joint shall be rewelded using the WPS initially mentioned for the joint in the Welding & Testing plan. If alternative WPS, other than the initially mentioned in Welding & Testing Plan for the joint, has to be used: this will be brought to the notice of the A.I, for his approval, prior to start of the joint concerned. 4. After completion of repair by welding, the repair portion will be re-examined as per the NDE mentioned in the Welding & Testing Plan for the concerned. 5. The act of repairing of weld defects shall be documented in the visual examination or any other NDE, carried out after completion of repair welding. 6. Post Weld Heat Treatment, when required, shall be done after the weld repair, except as permitted by UCS 56 (f). 7. The above repairs on welds will not require an N.C.R. to be made up to 3 consecutive repairs at same location.

8. Repair on weld more than thrice at a particular location, or any repair to base material will require an N.C.R to be raised first and proper repair proposals / corrective action discussed with the A.I. prior to execution & separate Q.A.P made with A.I hold points.
