1.2 INFORMTION ABOUT THE PROJECT

Here , we present certain facts and information to introduce MIET well .MIET, located in the national capital region, is one of the oldest self financed engineering institution in Uttar Pradesh and also one of the best. like a true leader, it has taken several initiatives in the field of technical education across the state now. MIET was first to introduce information technology and biotechnology as b.tech courses, demonstrating the farsightedness on the technological needs of nation. MIET has an intensive academic environment that brings out best in the students. It lays claim to best faculty in the region, offers the best laboratory infrastructure ,excellent hostel and mess facilities and promotes several extra curricular activities. It has also well stocked library in the state over 56,023 volumes and subscribe to a numbers of journals of national and international importance This project will be a desktop application to be developed in JAVA using following technologies in front end 1) CSS 2) HTML 3) XML
At back end or implementation end this project uses following tools and technologies DB-2 Server- Apache Tomcat Database- MS-Access
PRODUCT PERSPECTIVE
This software is totally self contained and works relatively as efficient as other packages related to the subject. It provides simple database rather than complex ones for high requirements and it provides good and easy graphical user interface to both, new as well as experienced users of the computers.

CHAPTER 3FEASIBILITY STUDY AND

ANALYSIS
Feasibility study is the measure of how beneficial or practical the development of an information system will be to an organization. The Feasibility analysis is a cross life cycle activity and should be continuously performed throughout the system life cycle.
Operational feasibility:
By automating the website both the visitors and administrator will feel better than when it was manual. Users will get a very quick service by reducing the manual recordings. Also visitor will feel comfortable by reduction of their work. Recording errors will be reduced. Easy to handle a large database. Losing of records will be avoided. Considering all these factors we can conclude that all the users and end users will be satisfied by the system.
Technical feasibility:
For the design and development of the system, several software products have been accommodated. Database design MS Access, db-2 Interface design & Coading HTML, CSS,XML This software have the efficiency of producing and successfully running the system. Therefore the project is technically feasible.
Schedule feasibility
The duration of time required for the project has been planned appropriately and it is the same asthe duration of time expected by the visitor. Therefore the information can be delivered to the visitor within the expected time duration, satisfying the visitor. Hence the project is feasiblein scheduling
Economic feasibility:
To make this project all the resources that are used are freely available i.e the softwares including server and database. Hence the economical factor has been considered feasible.
CHAPTER 4
SYSTEM DESIGN
4.1 MODULAR DESCRIPTION
Modular Description of on line book shopping is based on the fact that how the project can be useful for the user. It describes how the different modules are linked together to serve the user requirements. This project contains the following properties by which we can say that in todays era the online book shopping is useful for the user in following ways. Initial steps: When the user use the project and if he wants to buy any kind of books then the registration of user is necessary .If the user is not registered then he cant buy any books. So registration of user is necessary. This is the first module. Procedure of Searching: The procedure of searching is easy. User can search any book by just clicking on the alphabets or number and pressing the submit button. This forms the second module. What is the Procedure of Buying : After searching is complete ,the user is able to buy any kind of books by clicking on BUY button and entering his user name and password to verify his identity. This is the third module. Last Step: After buying one or more than one copies of a book the bill is generated and the user then receives the ordered books by postal services at the address specified by him in the registration form. The sales record is maintained which shows how many books are sold and to which user. This is the last module of the project.
CHAPTER 6
TESTING
Software Testing The implementation of a software testing process is usually one of the most difficult tasks facing an organisation. Consistency, continuity and repeatability of your procedures deliver a framework from which a growing team can work effectively. Without consistency chaos usually ensues. Many testers thrive off chaos but ultimately the chaos approach doesnt scale and usually falls apart under tight deadlines and with complex products. Having said that smaller teams can deliver an effective test function with little structure in place. Again though this depends largely on the competence of a small number of testers and tends not to scale as a team grows. At some point a team usual begins to feel the need for a formal process. That point usually comes as the amount of software testing needed escalates. Theres nothing like a poor quality product release to prompt a demand for more testing. Also, as the requirement to test surfaces in multiple teams within an organisation the demand for formal process can become apparent too. The other point at which formal process can be useful is when your outsource. The idea of outsourcing is usually to avoid any of the overheads of managing the testing in house. If you have few procedures is in place then it is difficult to convey your expectations to an outsourced team. There are following procedures which are included in testing of Online Book Shopping system. 1. How much time do we have to document and write things down? 2. What legal requirements are imposed on us to document our work? 3. To what extent does writing help us as individuals with what we do? 4. What do our customers expect from us? 5. How else are we going to convey our thoughts and knowledge if we dont write things down? Testing Cost: The testing cost of project can be determined by following way. Cost of Quality = Cost of conformance + Cost of nonconformance Conformance Costs include Prevention Costs and Appraisal Costs. Prevention costs include money spent on quality assurance tasks like training, requirements and code reviews, and other activities that promote good software. Appraisal costs include money spent on planning test activities, developing test cases and data, and executing those test cases once. Nonconformance costscome in two flavors: Internal Failures and External Failures. The costs of internal failure include all expenses that arise when test cases fail the first time they are run, as they often do. A programmer incurs a cost of internal failure while debugging problems found during her own unit and component testing. Once we get into formal testing in an independent test team, the costs of internal failure increase. Think through the process: The tester researches and reports the failure, the programmer finds and fixes the fault, the release engineer produces a new release, the system administration team installs that release in the test environment, and the tester retests the new release to confirm the fix and to check for regression.
The costs of external failure are those incurred when, rather than a tester finding a bug, the customer does. These costs will be even higher than those associated with either kind of internal failure, programmer-found or tester-found. In these cases, not only does the same process described for tester-found bugs occur, but you also incur the technical support overhead and the more expensive process of releasing a fix to the field rather than to the test lab. In addition, consider the intangible costs: angry customers, damage to the company image, lost business, and maybe even lawsuits.
CHAPTER 7
EXISTING SYSTEM AND LIMITATIONS

Cannot support multiple user interfaces. The information database should be accessible in real time. All users are using JAVA enabled browsers and have a basicknowledge of computer usage. Roles and tasks are predefined and made known to theadministrator. Admin is created in the system already.

MIET is the first engineering college in the state to have down linking facility for viewing this 24 hrs. channel. It has set up a well equipped EDUSAT STUDIO with CD recording facility. A class of 60 students can use it at a time.
