BY SRI SRAVANA SAMITHI, MUSCAT ARANA DESIKAN, 4/30 SARVADHARI PURATTASI 04 – 19-09-2008 Following is the english translation of a verse composed on our mighty Desikan by one of the poorvacharyas. This verse extols Swamy Desika on the same lines as extoling the Supreme Para Vasudeva. He whose eyes shine like the Sun and the Moon Adorn him we do, on the preceptoral lotus throne At his divine lotus feet, while we supplicate Pray we for nothing, but, a glance with his eye on left The two beautiful eyes of Our Swamy are compared to the Sun and the Moon. They are indeed bright and shine forth with luster due to his immense Brahma jnanam. His eyes are indeed powerful as they have the capacity to free one of all his sins and to make him adopt the path of self-surrender. One benevolent glance with his eyes stand no match even for glances with three eyes of Rudra, eight eyes of Brahma or even a thousand eyes of Indra (Ref. Subhashitaneevi of Swamy Desika). Our adorable Swamy, this great an Acharya of ours is seated on the lotus throne of Sri Ramanuja Siddhantam. The Thirukai on the left holds the Srikosham and the strong right hand is the jnanamudra. When we supplicate at his Tiruvadi in an act of self surrender we can really feel his benevolent glance on us. We pray that Our Swamy should glance with his left eye. In Purushasuktam Vedas while describing the ParaBrahmam says that the left eye and the right eye are moon and the sun respectively. Our Swamy’s eyes are also compared to the sun and the moon. After all is not Our Swamy Tiruvenkatamudayan Himself. A mere glance with the left eye from Our Swamy would mean that the moon’s cool glances are being shed. The right eye for the ParaBrahman is Sun .Even Sudi Kuddutha Naachiyar

Goda Devi says – Thingalum Aadityannum ezhuntriarpol…The Sun’s rays are strong and they have the quality of burning our paapams. On the other hand the moon’s rays are cool and soft expressing anugraham of Our Swamy. More than we seeing Our Swamy ,He should spread his anugraha kataksham on us so that we can redeem ourselves .
