Precalculation Service

The Precalculation Service is a separate component with its own installation that is available on 6.40
Final Compilation CD4. I searched in SAP Market place but didn’t find any results. We need to install
it in Client and Server systems.

Settings needed in the local machine

It is a mandatory setting to allow the service to interact with local machine to run the report
automatically.
Control Panel

Administrative tools >> Services

If SAP Precalculation Service is already installed in the system then you will find one Local service as below. Check on
Properties

You will get the following screen; here you could change the settings.

For Registry Settings RUN “REGEDIT” (Registry editor)
Path is “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\BEx”

Create String value “SHOWEXCEL” and assign value true to the string value

Gateway Settings (T code: SMGW)

Goto >> Expert Functions >> Network Addresses

We will get IP address of BW server (Host Name). Add this to local host file “HOSTS” in system
directory of Operating System

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Format of the entry is


“IPADDRESS DOMAINNAME”
And save it

Domain name should be the name of the system that to be set as precalculation server

Precalculation Server Registration (T code: RSPRECADMIN)

For “Server name“give the Domain name given in the above step.

After this an entry is automatically created in RFC destination (SM59) with name
“PREC_<SERVERNAME>”.

NOTE: After this check T code RSPRECADMIN, the Precalculation server name should be having
green signal.
