ABSTRACTION

Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) acts as antioxidant that has hyrophilic character. In cosmetic industry, it has to be encapsulated into liposome in order to be able to reach dermis layer before the formula is formulated into lipstick. Reverse Phase Evaporation method is used to establish MAP liposome and the results are then purified with dialysis. Liposome is made into three formulas using lecithin and cholesterol with these comparisons: 200: 20 (formula I), 200: 40 (formula II), and 200: 60 (formula III). Absorbent Percentage MAP is 64.52%, 71.12% and 77.85% for formula I, formula II and formula III. Liposome is then extracted to decrease the size and to uniform it by passing it to the 0.45 m membrane-permeable pore. Pre-extracted and post-extracted liposome shapes are then observed using optical microscope. The result of particle size distribution using particle size analyzer produces the size of 0.496 m for both liposomes before and after extrusion. Liposome with the largest absorbent is included in lipstick and divided into four formulas according to the emollients and pigment concentration. The best lipstick is obtained from the formula with the highest pigment concentration and emollient and, as a result, producing good lipstick surface, smooth texture, homogeneous color dispersion, rigidness, and the melting temperature 40 C.
