POETRY BOOKLET

Purpose

You will be able to select poems for a specific purpose. You will be able to write poems for a specific purpose. You will be able to explain what your poetry selections mean to you and why you picked them. You will be able to select illustrations and artwork to accompany your poems. You will create a published work that is ready to be given as a gift.

The Assignment

You are going to be creating a booklet of 15 poems for someone special in your life
Think

of your parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, teachers, or anyone who choose. This will be something that you will present to them after winter break. They will have a form to sign and return to me so I know you gave it to them.

The Assignment

Your booklet must include:


A dedication

page A table of contents 15 poems


Some must be poems you

found online or in books and some must have been written by you.

Illustrations

for each poem An explanation of what you think each poem means A statement telling why you selected or wrote each poem

The Assignment

You will have time in the library and computer lab to find poems, type them (if you choose to do so), and find illustrations. Bring photos from home to make it more personal. Look for pictures in magazines that you would like to cut out and use.

You will be graded on the following components:
