Expanded through 1st half of the 20th c Went public in 1948 Became the largest grocery chain in Netherlands Expanded into liquor stores and cosmetic stores in 1970s International expansion started in 1970s Changed name to AHOLD in 1973, which stands for Albert Heijns Holdings
