Magnetic Levitation Train (Maglev Train) As we know, ordinary train usually uses a railway as its way and use wheel to make the train move. But not with this train called Maglev Train or Magnetic levitation train. This train is using the concept of magnet work; repelling and attracting between poles of the magnet. There are some magnets put both on the train and on the railway. The magnets are not ordinary magnet. This magnet is called Superconducting magnet. This is how the train works. First, the train is lifted above the guide way. The superconducting magnet onboard and electrically conductive strips or coils in a guide way set up magnetic fields. That lifts the train above the guide way. And how about the movement? The train is propelled forward by the superconducting magnet. It was propelled by the attraction and repulsion forces between the superconducting magnets onboard the train and the electrically conductive strips within the guide way. This train can attain high speeds because they have no friction force between the trains itself and the track or the rail. They are lifted above the guide way so they didn t touch the track. And why the train keeps in stable position? They are keep like that because the magnetic fields are centered over the guide way. So far, in its development, this train can achieved sustain speed until 500 km/h (300mph)
