By: SOHAIB ZAHEER Class: VI A

EARTH : Earth is a heavenly body that revolves around another heavenly body, the Sun. We usually call these heavenly bodies which revolve around the Sun as planets. SOLAR SYSTEM: There are nine planets in our solar system.

The word solar is derived from the Latin word for Sun, Sol,leading to the term solar system , or the system of earth .The planets that orbit the sun within the solar system include Mercury, venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The sun itself makes up an estimated 99.86% of the solar system total mass.

The inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars), are relatively small and made primarily of rock and iron. The outer planets,(Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) with the exception of pluto, are much larger and made mainly of hydrogen, helium, and ice.

The Tenth Planet Story (Eris): A planet larger than pluto has been discovered in the outlying regions of the Solar System. The planet was discovered using the Samuel Oschin Telescope at Palomar Observatory near San Diego,Calif. The discovery was announced by scientist Dr. Mike Brown of the california.
