EGYPTIAN PROTECTION RITUAL

What you will need: A white or light blue colored candle. Incense burner with chains, thyme or pine incense, sandalwood incense One cup or chalice filled with water A bowl of olive oil One small portion of salt One small bell Your magic Wand if you have one (this is not required) RITUAL: Your altar (a small square table) should be positioned in the center of your temple and covered with a white tablecloth. In the center of the table, arrange a white or light blue candle. In the upper left hand corner of your altar, place an incense burner with an already glowing coal ready for the incense. In the upper right hand corner of the altar, position a chalice or cup of water, a small dish of salt, and a little bowl filled with olive oil. Light the white or blue candle at the center of the altar as your consciousness realizes and absorbs that this flame represents the full force of divinity. OPENING: Clap your hands loudly once to announce the opening of the Ritual, and ring the bell one time. Go to the front side of the altar and turn to face the East (the altar should now be behind you.) Point your finger or your magic Wand as if to point to something as you say: "I Salute You, guardian of the East, powers of the Air, Source of all the commandments and our capacity for wisdom. I Salute the Goddesses Ceres, Demeter and Persephone, Mother of the Earth and all fates. I salute the gnomes and spirits of the caverns, the burrows and the Earth. Come and be present with me in this sacred space, as witnesses to this ritual." Turn back to the East, with the altar in front of you this time, and say: "In this center, I invoke the element of the spirit, the Goddess of infinite space and the infinite stars within it. That you may spread your divine blessing over this sacred place." Put down your Wand if you are using it. Place some incense on the burning coal (if you wish you may also add some lavender grains). Let the smoke from the incense fill the entire room. Pick up your incense burner by the chain(s), turn to face the East and say: "In the East I invoke the Goddess Hathor. Gentle Hathor, queen of beauty, sweet mother of all living creatures Be present here. May your light and your purity shine and nourish me As they do for all that lives, So I may carry these virtues with me on my path And with them nourish all those around me. I offer this incense to the Goddess Hathor." Slowly circle around the room moving clockwise. Once you come back to face the East, return to your position in front of the altar and put down the incense burner. Take the white or light blue candle in your hand, go to the South, and say: "In the South I invoke the Goddess Bast, Lady of joy and generosity, protector of the Sun who killed Apep the snake, Be present here, Grant me the joy of song, dance and the power of healing, So that I may let the earth and all living things enjoy them with me. I offer this eternal flame to Bast. With the candle in your hand, go slowly around the room in a clockwise motion once, then put the candle back in the center of the altar and say: "In the West, I invoke the Goddess Isis. O Goddess of a thousand names, master of all that is magical, Celestial Queen, Western star! I beg your grace and your blessing, You who brought knowledge of so many talents to humanity, Be my master now, so that wisdom and love grow still greater inside me, That I may truly be counted among your children. Help me in my work and bless this Water, Which I now offer to Isis, vision of truth. Carry the cup containing the water once as you go around the room in a clockwise direction. As you come back to the East, put the water chalice down on the altar, dip your right thumb into the water and trace a circle on your forehead with your moist fingertip.

Take the cup of salt up in your hand and say: "In the North, I invoke the Goddess Nephtys, Dark lady, sovereign of night and death. Then place it back on the altar, extend your arms out in front of you, slightly away from your body with the palms turned up to the sky, and say: "I raise my eyes to the sky and invoke you, Blessed night, mother of the universe and the Gods.
