Seniors are at the top of their high school world they have scrambled
over the boulders of their freshman years, leaped the pitfalls of their soph-
omore years, and dragged themselves over the craggy heights of their ju-
nior years. And all too often, seniors tend to stop to enjoy the view. . and
fall off.
This tendency on the part of seniors to become a little lazy to let
things slip by has been most recently termed senioritis, and it is easily
defined: it is the loss of the ability and desire to discover.
This loss can often have tragic results many of a student's first real
crises occur because of this laxness. But as a result of these crises, many
students find for the first time a true sense of personal rsponsibility -
and this sense of responsibility is perhaps the most important possession
for a group of young adults who will very soon face the real world.
Discover this senior class. For if there are not among themsome future
world leaders, then there are at least among these seniors a group who will
become responsible adults in a world that is waiting to be discovered.

Cast of P-M High's
'Hello Dolly' picked
Mary Ann Geronimo and Celeste Hernandez exchange
knowing smiles about Dolly's past success.
a
Director Bert Pollack rehearses cast for his eighth musical
in four years.
The cast of the Patchogue-
Medford High School Senior Show
has been announced, following a
tremendous turnout for auditions
last week. The show, "Hello
Dolly," consists of approx-
imately 14 major and minor
speaking roles, 45 dancers, and 50
singers, not to mention the many
seniors who will be involved in
other aspects of the production.
The cast of "Hello Dolly" is one
of talent and experience, and
promises to be a cast
unparalleled in Patchogue-
Medford history. The leading
lady, Dolly Levi, will be played
by Celeste Hernandez. Celeste's
previous experience in dramatics
goes back to the Saxton Street
Middle School production of
"Annie Get Your Gun," in which
she had the female lead. Since
then, her experience has included
numerous roles in Player's
Group shows and a lead in last
year's All School Musical,
"Mame." Dennis Johnson, who
will be portraying the character
of Horace Vandegelder, has a
remarkable list of acting
accomplishments, which
includes more than six major
roles and leads in Player's Group
productions and musicals.
The role of Irene Molloy will be
performed by Sue Halliwell, who
has proven herself as both a
gifted singer and actress, with
feature roles in "Mame" and
"Finian's Rainbow." Torn Atten
will play the part of Cornelius
Hackl. His exceptional record of
acting leads in countless shows,
such as "Mame," and "I
Remember Mama," should
prove him to be an invaluable
member to the cast of "Hello
Dolly."
Minnie Fay will be played by
Chris Honey, whom many might
remember for her fine
performance in "Finian's
Rainbow," as the featured
dancer, Susan the Silent. Jon
Glass, who will portray the
character of Barnaby Tucker, is
comparatively a newcomer to the
stage, but has recently shown his
acting ability with his
performance as a lead in "The
Rainmaker."
The cast of "Hello Dolly" is
also proud to have Jim Lynch as
their featured dancer. Jim's 10
years of dancing lessons have
made him the most skilled male
dancer ever to appear in a
Patchogue-Medford High School
Seniors Show.
Other principals included in the
cast are Cathy LoHis, Mark
Sullivan, Winnie Dempsey, Mary
Ann Geronimo, Dave
Bamberger. Craig Kelskey and
Steve Immarigeon.
"Hello Dolly" will be
performed on April 24, 25, and 26,
in the auditorium of Patchogue-
Medford High School.
Chorus members Keith Shafanda, John DelGaizo, Louis Seigel, Dennis Roman.
Steve Immarageon, Carl DeMasi, Glenn Jordan, Howard Stuart-Houston, and
Dave Banberger prepare for the opening scene of HELLO DOLLY.

DISCOVER FRANK FURFARO
Frank Furfaro is an athlete. He has just
completed four years of high school soccer,
starting as Captain of his freshman team
and finishing as Co-captain of the '74-'75
Varsity. Patchogue coaches have consid-
ered Frank so important to the Patchogue
defense that, due to an inconsequential in-
jury, Frank missed his first few minutes late
this season. For almost four complete
years, Frank played all of every game.
Frank is an athlete; but, more important-
ly, Frank is involved with the rest of his
school. Frank has been one of the prime
moves behind the '74-'75 Red and Black.
Frank has been largely responsible for its
success, having served simultaneously as
Business Editor and Layout Editor. Frank
has also written for the paper, and was sin-
gle-handedly responsible for the large
amounts of money raised each month from
advertising.
Frank also serves as Secretary of the Ath-
letic Association and is a member of the
Band.

DISCOVER CELESTE HERNANDEZ
Celeste Hernandez makes a lot of sense.
She feels that we've all got to get out and
meet new people. Celeste believes that
meeting people makes for a more interest-
ing life. And judging from the type of life
Celeste leads, she's met more than her
share.
How do you get the chance to make new
friends? "By getting involved," says Celeste.
And she knows how. Miss Hernandez has
appeared in many school plays including
Mame. She's also an active member of this
school's Player's Group. She loves to play a
part to its fullest extent. "It's a great way to
understand how other people think and
act," she says.
Celeste will attend college next fall. In
college, Miss Hernandez plans to study
Spanish and take courses in bi-lingual edu-
cation. One day She'll use her bi-lingual
abilities professionally, possibly working as
translator at the United Nations.
Celeste Hernandez has great plans for
herself, and with her attitude and abilities,
no doubt they'll work out.
DISCOVER JIM OLSON
Jim Olson is a truly remarkable person
Aside from being one of the top students in
this country, Jim is also one of the most
compassionate, truthful and helpful individ-
uals around. He has provided a model for
many students here at Patchogue-Medford.
Jim Olson is truly exceptional in yet an-
other way. He has made his faith the most
important concern in his life. Drinking alco-
hol heavily can stem from one's inability to
cope with "real-life" situations. Is an in-
tense closeness with one's religion also a
cop-out? "The answer is production," says
Jim. Someone who truly believes in God is
doing something emotionally, spiritually
and intellectually beneficial for himself. Jim
also believes that he has a responsibility to
mankind, and will always do things for oth-
ers. But the alcohol user simply destroys his
physical health, sometimes his mind, and
often his family. Clearly, Jim Olson has
found a way to live in our confused and
puzzling world.

Hardware stores, paint stores, department stores these are
businesses that many of us will seek employment with and all of
us will do business with. We must discover and understand this
business world, which is a facet of the outside world. To close
our eyes to this world is to growolder but not wiser.
We must be able to discover all the facets of our
world if we are to lead a complete and meaningful
life.
We must teach others howto discover.
We must keep our eyes and ears open, and let the
discoveries we have made direct the thoughts of
our minds and the feelings in our hearts.

Hardware stores, paint stores, department stores - these are
businesses that many of us will seek employment with and all of
us will do business with. We must discover and understand this
business world, which is a facet of the outside world. To close
our eyes to this world is to grow older but not wiser.
We must be able to discover all the facets of our
world if we are to lead a complete and meaningful
life,
We must teach others how to discover,
We must keep our eyes and ears open, and let the
discoveries we have made direct the thoughts of
our minds and the feelings in our hearts.

Congratulations to the Class of '75
Discovery
To discover is to expand one's universe ..
It may be a discovery that belongs to all:
Columbus discovered America
Einstein linked space matter and time
Michelangelo discovered a sculpture "hidden" in granite.
It may be a very personal discovery:
You have discovered a friend
You discovered a book, an idea, a place
You will continue to discover and grow.
We build on discoveries, our own and others',
To make our lives more beautiful and fulfilling.
With appreciation to David Bamberger from his Parents
