The Text

The paradigms of the text are used to contrast against the dark, shaded background and image underneath the text. This is placed at the top of the magazine with a white background and black font which stands out in the magazine cover to highlight the issue of 1 Day is just a feature and that the magazine itself includes other features.

Main Image
The main image of the magazine cover is the main characters of the grime film 1 Day . The different paradigms of the image is what makes it stand out in contrast to the text. For example, the image is in black and white, which highlights the dark themes in the film such as violence and drugs. The positioning of the text in the middle shows that the film it the main article of the magazine, revealing to the audience what to expect inside, such as a synopsis and reviews.

Main Image
The main image is shot from a low point of view, suggesting these are dominant and main characters of the film. The main girl is seen from a male gaze through the shot and the clothes she is wearing, which perhaps suggests themes of sexual nature throughout the film. The male character is also seen as looking down on the reader, highlighting power relationships between characters in the urban setting.

Cover Lines
The cover lines highlight the other features inside the magazine, ranging from other storylines and the films inner features. The paradigms of the yellow font contrasted against the grey background makes the films title stand out to reveal the main feature. Because of the films title being yellow in their film poster and trailer, the magazine too uses this font to show this is a confirmed interview. As well as the 1 Day title, other cover lines too have been put in yellow to suggest the main story of the magazine is the film.
