A) 3. Nearly every article I have read that concerns pharmaceutical commercials, displays resentment and disgust with every ad. The problem is that these drug companies create these ads to appeal to people with issues to purchase their products. Even though the doctor may know what is best for you as an individual, these companies want your money not better health. The worst part of these ads is that they usually skip the most serious side effects such as diseases, organ failure or cause a developing addiction/dependence. Many people are concerned that all of these ads are misleading the public and causing more problems for those that have issues.

B)

The article I selected is from the University of Maryland Medical Center on the subject of insomnia medication. The article states that insomnia medication can be sorted into groups; Common Non-Prescription, Non-Benzodiazepine Hypnotics, Benzodiazepine Hypnotics, Antidepressants, and Herbs and Supplements. Each have numerous and potentially dangerous side effects. All list common side effects such as drowsiness, depression, memory loss, impaired movement, and all strengthen the effect of other medication (which can be deadly). The more serious side effects are dependence, rebound insomnia, allergic reactions and respiratory problems, irregular heartbeat, seizures and death. After reading this article, its

seems the best medication are the minor ones with low doses, since they are the least likely to cause the side effects and cause an addiction.
