Animal Farm Activity Chapters 1-4 1. propaganda: (n.) information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, or nation. 2. a.) An example of propaganda that is used on Animal Farm to motivate the animals is when Squealer persuades the animals to accept that the pigs kept the apples and milk for the benefit of the whole group. He tells them that he hopes that they do not think that the pigs are being selfish and they only eat the apples and milk because they are healthy foods. He uses the ability to twist the minds of the animals for his benefit making it propaganda. 2. b.) An example of propaganda that is used in school to get students to do well is when grades are posted in a classroom. This is used to help students improve their grades by achieving an honorable mention and getting good grades. 3. Good Evening! Welcome to the CNN evening news. Today we will be discussing the truly inspiring story of the Battle of Cowshed. Early in October, pigeons alerted the animals on Animal Farm that their old owner, Mr. Jones was marching on the farm with other farmers from around the neighborhood. Snowball, being the intelligent pig that he is jumps into action. He prepares a defense and leads the animals in ambush on the men. One of the most courageous animals that fought was Boxer, the tough horse. He finds out after the battle that he has unintentionally killed a stable boy in the chaos. Snowball tells Boxer, the only good human being is a dead one. Mollie avoided the battle as a whole and does not come out of hiding until the war is over. Afterwards, the animals collaborate and Snowball and Boxer

are given medals with the inscription Animal Hero, First Class. Another award was placed at the grave of a sheep wounded in war. To conclude the ceremony, the animals decide to place Mr. Joness gun at the base of the flagstaff. From here, he will fire the gun twice a year to remember important dates in the history of Animal Farm.
