Mental Capacity Act Making Sense of it Session

Whats it all about?


The Mental Capacity Act is an important way of protecting the rights and liberty of people with learning disabilities. The act covers all sorts of issues and provides a legal framework around decision making which includes: Choosing where to live Consent for operations Issues around money and property And much more!

Lots of family members and carers have told us that making sense of what it means for them and their loved ones is difficult. This session will help family members and family carers do this.

Who are the sessions for?


This session is for family members and family carers of people with learning disabilities from York. The act covers people from 16 upwards but we welcome family members of those who this will be an issue for soon. There are 25 places on this session in total.

When and where will the session be held? The session will be held on: Friday the 20th of April 10.00am-1.00pm The session will be held at: York CVS-Denham Room 15 Priory Street, YO1 6ET Light refreshments will be provided but you will need to bring your own lunch.
