I tried to mimic the style used by Ayaz Khan in his translation of the book Seerat Khatamun Nabiyyeen.

I found out the font he used and his use of arabic transliteration. The transliterations that I used are: lower-case upper-case B T Th J Kh D Dh R Z S Sh

The font that I used for my thesis was "Gentium". The best way to get these transliterations is to choose a font for your thesis first, but it won't matter later because you can always change the font after. So, first choose the font that you want and then go to the "Insert" tab on Microsoft Word. Then go to "Symbols". Go to "More Symbols". Then scroll down and choose the font that you want to use. After that, go through the list above and assign a shortcut key for the characters that you need. You will need to scroll through the symbols and find those special characters. You obviously will not need to assign anything for the letters that don't require any special symbol, but for special characters, such as "", u will need to. For all of the lower-case letters I assigned "alt + the letter". For all of the upper-case letters I assigned "shift + alt + the letter".

For I assigned "ctrl + alt + t". Make sure, when you assign a shortcut key, it is not being used already for another shortcut that you need, such as "ctrl + a", because you know that it's used to select all. That's why I chose to use the "alt" key. After you have assigned them once, then they will be permanently set and you will not have any trouble again. Hope for the best... take care, salam.
