    "Shark Diving" plays a very minimal role in the overall impact on tourism in the city of Cape Town. There is at least some correlation between newly established dive sites in the western part of False Bay and the habitat of the Great White Sharks living there. More research needs to be conducted in this area in order to establish a link between the two.

    Conclusion Basedonthefindingsabove,itsclearthatSharkDivingplaysaveryminimalroleintheoverallimpacton tourisminthecityofCapeTown. Thecityisexperiencingagrowthintouristnumbers,butdespiteits increasinglypublicprofile,SharkDivingisstillasmallsliceoftheeconomy. Allthatbeingsaid,thedata thatwecollectedindicatesthatthereisatleastsomecorrelationbetweennewlyestablisheddivesitesin thewesternpartofFalseBayandthehabitatoftheGreatWhiteSharkslivingthere. Moreresearchneeds tobeconductedinthisareainordertoestablishalinkbetweenSharkDivingandGreatWhites. Given thatsharkattackscreateamediafrenzyuponeachincident,itwouldbeworthwhileforecotourist operatorstolearnmoreabouttheimpactsofSharkDivingonboththeanimalsthemselvesandthe peoplelivingnearthem.

Onemajorsourceofdatathatis glaringlymissingfromthisinvestigationistheopinionoftouriststhemselves. Bydevelopinga questionnaireandinvitingtouriststoCapeTowntofillitout,wecouldlearnmuchmoreabouttheir mindsetandthepotentialimpactthatbothSharkDivingandsharkattackshaveonthedecisionsthat theymakewithregardstotourisminthecity. Finally,thefieldworkquestionitselfcanbeimproved. AfterhavingcompletedthisinvestigationIvecometorealizethattheyresearchquestionlimitsthe investigationtotourism,whichisabroadtopicarea. Theconclusionthatwasmadeisquiteobviousgiven thatSharkDivingisonlyaminorsliceofCapeTownstourismdollars. Itmightbemoreinterestingto askthequestiontowhatextentdoesSharkDivingleadtoanincreaseinsharkattacksinFalseBay? Leavingoutthebitabouttheimpactontourismallowsforamorefocused,andslightlydifferent,bodyof research.
