BUSBAR

A Bus bar in electrical power distribution refers to thick strips of copper or aluminum that conduct electricity within a switch board, distribution board, substation or other electrical apparatus. Bus bar are of two types: Rigid Type Strain Type Main Bus, Transfer Bus And Bus Coupler In a duplicate bus bar system a double bus is provided and each circuit can be connected to either bus through a isolator. A Bus Coupler helps to balance the load and is provided in the circuit so that it can be switched on from one bus to another . A transfer bus connected through a tie breaker which can be replaced when any of the bus is under maintenance.

ISOLATORS
Isolators are used for shifting of feeder from one bus to another and also to isolate equipment for maintenance purpose. A wide variety of isolators are available.
Air break Isolators
They are associated with switch gears and provided to facilitate maintenance work. They are opened and closed only when the circuits is dead. TYPES Rocking or Vertical type Horizontal Break type

CIRCUIT BREAKERS
The types of circuit breaker currently used are SF6.But the other include bulk-oil, or vacuum type for 33kv and MOCB for 132kv & 220kv. Circuit breaker are mainly mounted on individual structure except for few which are installed directly on the foundation.
