My name is Katherine Nieweglowski. I am a sophomore at Loyola University Chicago studying Sociology and Psychology.

Since my admission, I have gained valuable leadership experience through my involvement in co-curricular activities and on-campus departments. My involvement has included doing office and budget work for the Office of Student Activities and Greek Affairs, planning philanthropy events for Alpha Chi Omega National Womens Fraternity, and fostering undergraduate sociological interest through Loyolas Sociology Club. As a result of these opportunities, I have developed strengths in event-planning, funding, and promotion. My academic interest is centered on the field of social psychology. I hope to take advantage of a well-rounded course curriculum in both sociology and psychology in order to expand my knowledge of important concepts and theories. My goals for the remainder of my college career are to obtain an internship in applied psychology and participate in a supervised research study with a Loyola faculty member. I seek the opportunity to gain research experience and witness hands-on activities in the workplace. My values in the workplace include advancement, security, profit gain, intellectual status, and independence. As a social psychologist, I hope to find myself advancing in a career that will allow me to set my own goals and further my development in research. I also hope to offer a significant contribution to the field. Ideally, I would like to focus my research goals on the areas of stereotypes and discrimination. My aspiration is to provide social psychological insight on the attitudes exhibited towards the disabled community and its effect on individuals.
