Shank poster analysis

Colour
The colours used are dull and hopeless, the grimey dark element of the colour scheme reflects the genre of grime. The bleakness could mirror the despair of the setting in the film London 2015 run by gangs. The title is coloured red which has connotations of danger and death, this has significance to the plot of the film, in particular when the male protagonists brother is stabbed and murdered, these are themes typically explored in grime films.

Characters
The characters are presented as mischievous yet vulnerable this is seen in the way they are running as it is clear they are running from something. Possibly as a result of something they have done. The actors are all young adults or teenagers which is common in the casting of Grime films. The males seem to be dressed in an urban gangster way, for example the boy on the far left has a scarf/bandanna around his neck which could indicate that it might be used to hide his face while committing crimes, he also wears a cap. The boy in the centre has weapons strapped to his back and has a threatening looking dog on a leash in front of him.

Typography
The typography is a serif, simple font which would typically appeal more to the target market of young adults. There is a signature font that is used throughout magazines, posters and advertisements for the title of the film. the colour is red which connotes danger and violence. There is an insert on the A of a man holding a knife which indicates that the film will be violent and filled with action. The font of the tag line is understated but therefore puts emphasis on the poignant line 2012. The gangs have taken over.
